“An innovative new screening camera, available as a mobile unit”

The screening team from Fivesquared will visit your employees in their workplace, on site, to carry out the screening procedure.

No longer do you have to allow your employees to take a substantial part of the working day off to attend regional test centres as we will come to you.

In reference to the control of vibration at work regulations 2005, we will provide you with a tier of health screening (There are 5 tiers, achieved over at least 3 years)
We can give your employees tier 5 screening on our initial visit.

Together the health questionnaire responses with a positive reply to any trigger questions along with the thermal imaging scans of the hands will allow the doctor to provide a result in the medical report, with reference to the Stockholm Workshop Scale.

The thermal images produced by the Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging Camera allow the visualisation of the effects on the sensorineural component of HAV’s that until now have not been available.

This type of screening can also distinguish the difference between carpal tunnel syndrome & HAV’s (The signs & symptoms are very similar)

Maurice Raynaud in 1862 described a syndrome of episodic white & bluish colouring in the extremities caused by cold.

It is now recognised that there are some 40 possible conditions that can lead to Raynauds syndrome, some of which are occupational diseases.

Infrared Thermal Imaging is a convenient Non-contact technique, providing dynamic two- dimensional temperature measurement.

By applying a standard cold stress to the hands, a change in the temperature of the hands can be monitored at timed intervals.

Skin temperature, particularly in the extremities is highly dependent upon blood perfusion change in the temperature is therefore a representation of local blood flow.

Inducing a vasospastic response in a patient with Raynauds syndrome will cause a sharp fall in temperature & a very delayed recovery compared with the normal reactions to the same stress environment.

PROCEDURE FOR HAVS (hand arm vibration syndrome) SCREENING using DITI (digital infrared thermal imaging)
Screening requires a room at ambient temperature that may be controlled to follow protocols, afford privacy and have an electricity supply.
•  Screening consists of 1/2hr consultation
•  Completion of required Health Questionnaire. (Two levels)
•  Level 1 (Baseline trigger questions)
•  Level 2 (If any positive answers to trigger questions)
•  Initial DITI (Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging) scan of hands and arms to lower arm level
•  One hand placed in a bowl of cool water for approximately 1 minute. (A cold stress test)
•  Hand patted dry
•  Repeat DITI scan at 1-minute post stress
•  Repeat DITI scan at 5 minutes post stress
•  Repeat scan at 10 minutes post stress
•  End of consultation
POST SCREENING
The recorded images and completed health questionnaire will be reviewed by the medical team and two medical reports, plus scan images (one for the employer and for the employee) will be received by registered post in 5-7 working days from the screening date.
